Day 1 :   Tbilisi

  • Meeting at Tbilisi international airport of Georgia
  • Firstly,Check-in at the hotel situated in the city center,
  • Dinner at your hotel
  • (Depending on the arrival time) and after some rest sightseeing around Tbilisi. Guests will have an opportunity to enjoy beautiful views of Tbilisi both in the daytime and at night.
  • Finally,Overnight in Tbilisi

 

Day 2 :  Tbilisi (Narikala fortress / Holy Trinity Cathedral / Anchiskhati Church / Sioni Cathedral / Metekhi church / Turtle Lake and open air museum of Ethnography / Tbilisi Botanical Garden)

  • Wake up call
  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Firstly,Departure to visit Narikala Fortress- one of the most ancient fortresses in Georgia. It overlooks the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi.
  • After Narikala you will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, also known as “Sameba”. It was built in 1995-2004. It is the 3rd tallest eastern orthodox cathedral in the world.
  • Lunch in a typical restaurant in city center
  • After lunch, you will visit Anchiskhati Church, oldest surviving church in Tbilisi. The church was built by the King Dachi in 6th century AD.
  • Following of our trip,In the afternoon, visit the Sioni Cathedral, situated in the historic “SionisKucha”. Sioni Cathedral was the main Georgian cathedral until the Georgian Government has completed the cathedral of Sameba in 2004.
  • Metekhi church-is situated on the elevated rock and overlooks the River “Mtkvari”.
  • According to the Georgian annals,Vakhtang I Gorgasali built the church in 5th century and used it to be as the king’s residence.
  • Lunch at the restaurant
  • Turtle Lake and open air museum of ethnography-This museum situates near the Turtle Lake commonly known as”kusTba”. The museum displays samples of craftwork and folk architecture.
  • Georgians held Concerts and festivals there as well, one of the most known festivals is wine fest is held every year.
  • Tbilisi Botanical Garden-the history of this garden spans more than three centuries.
  • Back to the hotel at night (around 19:00)

Day3 : Mtskheta ( Jvari monastery/Svetitskhoveli cathedral/Shio-mgvime monastery/Samtavro chapel )

  • Wake up call

  • Departure from Tbilisi to Mtskheta, which is one of the ancient cities in Georgia
  • Firstly,we can begin by visiting Jvari Monastery on the top of the rocky mountain.
  • Additionally,it should be noted,The monastery is overlooking the confluence of two rivers-Mtkvari and Aragvi.
  • The history of this monastery connected with St. Nino, who erected wooden cross at this place able to work miracles.
  • After Jvari monastery, visit Svetitskhoveli According to the existing legend ,a monk buried Christ’s mantle there.
  • Svetitskhoveli is a seat of archbishop and Catholicos-patriarch of all Georgia
  • Picnic in Nature
  • Next destination is Shio-Mghvime monastery.Obviously, It is a monastic complex established in the 6th century by Monk Shio, one of the 13 Assyrian fathers who came to Georgia.
  • After Shio-Mghvime monastery, visit Samtavro Orthodox church in the center of the city. It is a Nunnery of St. Nino. the King Mirian III of Iberia has built the church in 4th century and also Georgians reconstructed it several times throughout the history. In addition of that ,Georgians buried the famous Georgian monk Gabriel in the yard of the church.

Day 4 : Borjomi-Bakuriani(Mtsvane monastery/Borjomi-kharagauli national park/likani resort/romanov palace/bakuriani ski resort/Timotesubani)

  • Wake up call
  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Firstly,Departure for Borjomi, which is located at the confluence of three rivers- Mtkvari, Borjomula and Gujaretistskali. It is also a climatic and balneological resort.
  • Obviously,Borjomi is also mostly known for its mineral water industry. We will see Borjomi water rising from the depth of 8-9 kilometers.
  • Also,we will visit Borjomi-Kharagauli national park stretching over 5.3 thousand square meters.
  • Importantly,Visit Mtsvane Monastery.
  • Furthermore,and according to a group of scientists,the disciples of Gregory of Khandzta have built this monastery, Theodore and Christephore in 9th The monastery complex includes a basilica church and bell tower. The Monastery was foraged in XV century during the invasions of Shah-Tamaz. Georgians restored it again in 20th century.
  • Also,we can’t forget visiting Romanov Palace located near Borjomi, in resort Likani.

Day 5 : Cave city of Vardzia

  • Obviously,The construction of the city dates back to the 12th century,and in this century in particular,  Georgia’s History regarded Queen Tamar’s epoch as Golden Age.

Day 6 : Akhaltsikhe region (Rabati Castle and Safara monastery)

  • Depart for Akhaltsikhe
  • Firstly,Visit Safara monastery, Georgians founded it almost, in 9the century and among its monks were very important figures in Georgia’s ecclesiastic history. In 13th century the monastery became the possession of the Jakeli family, which was on good terms with the Mongols. From 16th century until 17th century Safara monastery became empty due to Turkish expansion in Samtskhe region. During this time Georgians have taken the Monastery treasures to more protected places in Georgia.

  • Secondly,After Safara you will visit Rabati castle.
  • Moreover,it dates back to 9th century and was the residence of the Jakeli family-ruling dynasty of Samtskhe-Saatabago. clearly,Its area is about 7 hectares.
  • Furthermore,The complex consists of Jakeli residence, fortress, Greek, Armenian and catholic churches. There is a mosque as well. Rabati has mixed styles of architecture because of the influence from different invaders throughout the history.

Day 7 : Dmanisi-Bolnisi

  • Firstly,Departure for Dmanisi, which is a town and important archeological place in kvemoKaryli region. According to the historical annals, Dmanisi is first mentioned in 8the century as a possession of the Arab emirates.
  • Although,This town had a great importance in Georgian history, but it is mostly known for its archeological importance.
  • Archeological excavations revealed ancient and medieval artifacts and buildings at this territory, also unique remains of prehistoric animals and humans.
  • As a result of this,that’s why the town always attracts visitors and tourists.

  • Following,after Picnic you will visit Bolnisis sioni located in Kvemo Kartli region.
  • Additionally,It is a city and the capital of the Bolnisi district. But,Also,Bolnisi is important place in Georgia because of Bolnisis Sioni and its inscriptions on the wall carved approximately in 5th century AD.
